When it comes to safe and effective beauty and wellness products, it should be no surprise that Mother Nature is the leader in the industry. We can, and should, look to the Earth to provide the best quality ingredients for our overall health (skincare included!).
We know what not to put into our bodies, but sadly we don't know enough about what not to put onto our bodies. Many of the chemicals we are absorbing into are skin are linked to skin irritation, birth defects, cancer and infertility (for real, it's terrifying).
Below is a list of great sites that list the chemicals you should try to avoid when buying skincare items and cosmetics. These comprehensive, easy to understand lists also explain why you should avoid these ingredients (and way better than I ever could).
You'll probably recognize some items (think artificial fragrance, parabens, propylene glycol, sulfates, synthetic dyes and triclosan), but many harmful ingredients fly under the radar.
These very sites have helped me navigate the natural beauty world and figure out what to keep and what to toss. I promise, after reading about these unsafe ingredients, throwing away your toxic-laden products won't be so painful.
